국내 약 1,500만 명의 고객을 보유한 "토스뱅크(Toss Bank)"가 "솔라나 재단(Solana Foundation)"과 협력해 "스테이블코인 기반 해외송금 기술 검증(PoC)"을 시작했습니다.
이번 협력은 6월 19일 체결된 업무협약(MOU)을 바탕으로 진행되며, 토스뱅크가 글로벌 퍼블릭 블록체인인 솔라나와 추진하는 첫 공식 프로젝트입니다.
실증의 핵심은 기존 환거래은행(Correspondent Banking)을 거치지 않고, 퍼블릭 블록체인을 활용해 해외송금을 더 빠르고, 더 저렴하며, 더 효율적으로 처리할 수 있는지 검증하는 것입니다.
현재는 파일럿 단계로, ✅ 스테이블코인 발행 여부는 미정 ✅ 적용 국가 및 송금 경로는 미확정 ✅ 상용화 일정도 아직 발표되지 않았습니다.
향후에는 해외송금을 넘어 디지털 결제와 토큰화 자산(Tokenized Assets) 분야까지 활용 가능성을 검토할 예정입니다.
이번 프로젝트는 국내 주요 은행이 글로벌 퍼블릭 블록체인 기술을 금융 인프라에 직접 적용해 검증하기 시작했다는 점에서 의미가 큽니다.
디지털 자산과 스테이블코인이 기존 금융 시스템과 결합하는 시대가 다가오는 가운데, 이번 실증은 한국 금융권의 디지털 혁신과 블록체인 도입 방향을 가늠할 중요한 이정표가 될 것으로 기대됩니다.

Toss Bank, one of South Korea's leading digital banks with approximately 15 million users, has launched a Proof of Concept (PoC) with the Solana Foundation to test stablecoin-based cross-border payments.
The collaboration follows an MOU signed on June 19 and marks Toss Bank's first official partnership with the Solana blockchain.
The primary goal is to evaluate whether public blockchain technology can enable faster, lower-cost, and more efficient international money transfers without relying on the traditional correspondent banking system.
At this stage, the project remains a pilot: ✅ No decision has been made on issuing a stablecoin. ✅ Target countries and payment corridors have not yet been announced. ✅ No commercialization timeline has been released.
In the future, the partnership may expand beyond remittances into digital payments and tokenized assets.
Although still in its early stages, this initiative is significant because it represents a major Korean bank directly testing public blockchain infrastructure for financial services.
As stablecoins and digital assets become increasingly integrated with traditional finance, the outcome of this pilot could help shape the future of blockchain adoption across South Korea's financial industry.
