What's the real reason Pi Wallet's 'Exchanges' button is disabled?
Personally, I think that the 'Exchanges' button is not just a function for linking to exchanges, but also has the possibility of being activated "when the Pi Wallet balance is displayed as the actual price (value)."
Currently, Pi Wallet only displays the amount of Pi held, and does not display the amount converted to fiat currency (USD, etc.) or market value.
On the other hand, most wallets that support Bitcoin or Ethereum provide the following information.
• Quantity on hand • Current market price • Total asset value • Exchange linkage function
If the Pi Wallet ecosystem is completed in the future and officially linked to the exchange,
• Pi quantity • Current reference price • Total asset value • Exchange deposit/withdrawal and purchase functions
There is a possibility that these may be connected into one system.
The fact that only the 'Exchanges' button is currently disabled may be a preparatory UI showing that this feature has not been activated yet.
However, the important thing to note is that "the Pi Core Team has not yet officially explained when and how the 'Exchanges' button is activated."
Therefore, the interpretation that “the Exchanges button will also be activated when the value of Pi is displayed in the wallet” may be a “reasonable inference” based on the current UI, but it is not yet an officially confirmed fact.
In the future, if the Pi ecosystem is completed and official linkage with exchanges is achieved, it is possible to fully expect that Wallet will develop beyond a simple storage wallet into a “digital financial wallet capable of real-time asset management and transactions.”
