Palladium Labs today announced the launch of the Genesis Fund, a 10 million CC initiative worth approximately $1.5 million, designed to support developers, researchers, and startups building the next generation of financial primitives on the Canton Network.

The fund will provide grants, technical support, and ecosystem connections to teams developing applications, infrastructure, tooling, integrations, and research that expand the Canton ecosystem's capabilities.

The launch comes amid accelerating momentum across the Canton ecosystem. Earlier this month, Digital Asset, the creator of Canton, announced a $355 million funding round led by a16z crypto with participation from leading global financial institutions. The investment reflects growing conviction that the next generation of financial markets will be built on infrastructure designed for privacy, interoperability, and regulated financial workflows.

As tokenized assets, stablecoins, private credit, and capital markets move on-chain, builders are increasingly seeking platforms that can support sophisticated financial applications. Palladium Labs believes this shift represents one of the most significant opportunities in programmable finance.

“The infrastructure for programmable finance is rapidly taking shape on Canton,” said Akash Gaurav, Founder and CEO of Palladium Labs. “Institutions are bringing assets, workflows, and capital markets on-chain, but infrastructure alone does not create an ecosystem. Builders do. Genesis Fund is our commitment to supporting the entrepreneurs, researchers, and developers who will create the next generation of financial applications on Canton.”

Genesis Fund will focus on projects that strengthen the Canton ecosystem through the development of:

  • Financial applications
  • Infrastructure and developer tooling
  • Integrations and ecosystem services
  • Research and technical innovation

The fund is structured around multiple funding tiers, enabling teams at different stages of development to access support. Beyond capital, selected projects may receive technical guidance, product feedback, and introductions across the broader Canton ecosystem.

Genesis Fund reflects Palladium Labs' broader mission of advancing programmable financial infrastructure through research, engineering, protocol incubation, and ecosystem development.

Since launching its renewed focus on Daml and Canton, Palladium Labs has published research exploring programmable finance, financial agreements, and digital market infrastructure. The firm is also the team behind Alpend.com, a suite of credit primitives being developed on Canton, and is an active General Member of the Canton Foundation.

Applications for the Genesis Fund are now open:
